ELL Classes
The ELL program, offers immigrant residents of Iowa an opportunity to improve their English skills, work in small classes with volunteer teachers, learn the culture and form relationships to help integrate them into the community.
A Place To Grow
The ELL program offers immigrant residents of Des Moines and surrounding areas an opportunity to improve their English skills, work in small classes with volunteer teachers, get familiar with new cultures here and form relationships to help establish themselves in the community. Classes are free, with open enrollment throughout the school year.
A Place For Community
Twice a week during the school year, immigrant English learners gather with volunteer teachers for free classes, open to all with no set start date. Students can bring their children for free childcare while they learn. Beyond the classroom, a community garden provides a space to practice English, connect with neighbors, and grow fresh food. Since 2001, this program has brought together volunteers from local organizations and churches to foster learning, connection, and belonging.
